I've given up on this hobby pretty much now ... And I need to get my garden landscaped!
So ... I'm gonna be selling off a few bits and bobs (this is the turntable related stuff that's going)

Rega RB301 ... I don't really want to sell this, but I've taken to using my pioneer pl600x as its a lot less fuss and sounds as good as the Avalon/rega
the only thing that makes it anything less than mint is a minor chip to the paint on the headshell
Comes in its box with all the bits - manual, mounting template etc there is also a vta spacer job that I bought separately £140

Ortofon 2m red ... Id guess this has about 10-20 hours use ... I think I've included all the bits ... Comes boxed £50

Audio technica mg10 headshell £10

I also want shot of this Townshend Avalon without an arm
I have been using the rega on it ... I had to drill the three point holes ...
Nigel was using something else on it ... If he spots this hopefully he will share what that was ...
Free to a good home as long as you come and fetch it!

Nigel gave it to me ... So I'm just passing on the favour ... He is the one who desurves the praise!

When Nigel offered the Avalon to Hamish back then, I think my words were something like "Give Nigel a big sloppy kiss, grab the turntable and run before he changes his mind".

The same thing applies here, but Hamish gets the snog this time! This is too good an offer to refuse, folks.

Very remise of me not to update date this ( a bit like I normally do with my christmas thankyou letters that get sent in February ...err insert smiley face !!)

Set up the Avalon in my son's 'basement system using the Ortofon Red, an old Rega RB300 I had left over from my dead Roksan Xerxes (I still get bloody irritated by whatis name from Roksan saying to me that the sagging plinth was a myth..grrr)
Anyway, back to the the plot...all fed into a Linn Kollector thing which has a phono input, and then into one of those Arcam surround amps into surround speakers and a REL sunwoofer.
It sounds brilliant. Not exactly 2 speaker fidelity...but sounds much better than my son's old Project deck (can't remember, but the cheapest one)
Its all part of a grander plan to make this a 'proper' second system and then probably after a house move in a couple of years a whole other thing.

Thanks again Hamish..and Nigel before him.

If anyone comes across the silicon trough and paddle, give us a shout!

cheers

Steve
