Nissan Juke

Thinking about a Juke for the missus, she drives a Suzuki Grand Vitara atm. It's only got 3 doors and having 5 would be an advantage. Anyone got the Juke and if so, what do you think of it?

I think this is a truly hideous looking car, however, I am willing to bet that it is very well built and a great drive and if she can live with the looks or simply doesnt care I am sure she will love it

I've had 2 in the past, both Almera rust buckets bought for less than 700quid. Pretty cheap motoring really. You tend to get a couple of hassle free years out of them then the repair bill hits and you give them away...

My son picks up a year old one today. I went with him when he was looking at various options. I like the look of the Juke and it was well specced and a nice ride etc. Forecout price £13,000,reduced to £11,500, £4,100 for his 3 year old C1.

That's very similar to the deal we are looking at Rob-a year old one at £12300 and about £3000 for her Suzuki which is 2005 but has only done 45000 miles.

Worst car my dad ever had. Wasn't pink with a lighted plastic Flamingo on top, though.

OK, question for those who own or are considering one - what exactly is the appeal of the Juke?

Personally I think it's hideous but realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder so have no issue with this. However, it's what is described as a 'crossover' which means it seems to be intended to be half family car and half 'soft-roader'.

Consequently, it seems to me that it's too tall and heavy to be a decent handling and sensibly economical family car but not enough of an off-roader to tackle any serious mud, hence I really am unable to see the appeal in it, no matter how hard I try!

So, what's the draw? No mickey-taking; I'm genuinely puzzled.

The appeal to me is that it looks a bit brutal and different. I would agree with

It is only 2 wheel (front) drive and so as you say is a "soft roader". I loved Tonka Toys and I think that these are a bit Tonka. Marmite?

As for the Juke, it's not really my cup of tea but I can see the appeal. Most cars produced today look so similar and the Juke breaks the mould along with a couple of other notable exceptions like the Kia Soul (quite like these myself) and the Skoda Roomster.

In my wife's case she loves the car she has now, a Grand Vitara, because of it's excellent visibility. This is partially because of its high wheelbase so she wants to get something similar. The Juke has 5 doors rather than 3 but is only 150mm longer than her old car.

If you ever watched (oh, no of course you don't watch TV do you:lol:) an apalling programme called Chop Shop where they "customised" vehicles. The Kia Soul looks like something that they might have produced.....now what was that analogy.

My wife's late uncle said that he was always too busy to watch TV. Whenever we visited (which was often as we were around the corner) he would be watching TV and would shuffle off the sofa with an embarrased air and go and busy himself. Bestbit was catching him with a tear on his cheek whilst watching This Is Your Life.

I love Marmite and I love Marmite cars which is why I drive a Smart (trolley) and another Smart (roller skate).

Go for it - British designed and built and at least it will stand out from the crowd. It got a good review in the Top Gear Mag when it came out, the 4x4 also has a fancy pants torque vectoring system.
