Hi My name is Colin Wonfor.
I am in the trade with Tellurium Q Ltd,
I also started Magnum (UK) in the late 1970,s
Then Inca Tech, Inca Design, and Elsdon Wonfor (Dreadnoughts)
Then went and worked for a living with little or no fun for companies wanting large and small power supply designs.
Ended up travelling the world and working for Hughes, NASA, Naim, A.P., and many more.
But now back to fun.
I started life has a chemist but hated it so back to Uni and electronic's my Dad and Granddad were also electronic engineers so I was polluted early in life by the patter of tiny electrons.

So I have been following this forum and other hoping to get a insight on what you the listener needs, and what could be fun to make.

I try not to mess about with cables too much these days, but I've been interested in some of your amplifier designs over the years and I especially like this bit of your introduction!

A very warm welcome from me too Colin. I remember the Magnum's quite well, really good kit... BTW, any chance we might be seeing a distributor for the TQ cables in this part of the world anytime soon? With all the rave going about them, I feel somewhat.... left out....:unfair::lol::lol:

Welcome to AOS Colin

I was initially involved in the audio retail trade around the time of Magnum and Inca Tech, then in the hinterland before being back in around the time of Inca Designs. Out of it now, bar writing reviews for my own online magazine Adventures in High Fidelity Audio.

Must say I have enjoyed your past audio designs but as yet I have not heard TQ except at audio shows.

What kind of system do you use for listening with/to and what kind of music do you like?

You have an excellent design track record Colin - I still rue the day I sold a beautiful chrome (or was it brightly polished steel?) fronted Magnum pre-amp a few years ago and seen only one other since.

Very impressed with the TQ Blue even though it's at the bottom of the range, so much so I am moving up to the Black soon. When a (former) hi-fi cable maker says that, it is a real compliment :)

Bigger & scaleable if I remember correctly, though you just reminded me that that is probably also one of Colins designs ;)

They were not finished products, just scaleable designs using a current sink & a heck of a lot of power mosfets & no doubt a heatsink the size of a radiator :lol:

One or a couple were rated 300W RMS which would give a dissipation of about 1.5KW per channel :eek:

Thanks for the nice welcome, yes TOCA see pic in my Album and circuts if your feeling brave, the 300W took 1700W/ch.
The Magnum was nickel plated Frank, look at he gold plated Claymore only six in the world, I have not got one.

Amp is a new Iridium 20W SECA design, pre-amp is a thing I bashed together to prove things it sounds OK, TT I sold my Dais and have a Rega from Mike Manning , speakers mine, Ruark Ushers, B&W 801, CD mine, and a very modified Micromega.
Other Amps a Dirk, Oberon, 5W SECA, 1000W/ch AB thing I made, and a block of wood with nails a bits soldered to it is a sliding A Class design.

Oh and TQ Graphite and all the others cables and USB and Phono leads not yet seen in the UK. And tonight I was designing a DAC with all sorts of goodies on it, for fun.

Oh Bi-Wiring does sounds better than links Frank try it.

Im a very happy owner and user of the Inca Tech Claymore and I also have your inca tech pre and power amp and very happy with them...
I was actually on holiday in Turkey recently and got talking to a German gentleman...we started talking about music,which led to hi fi...and since I told him I had a Claymore hes been emailing me on a regular basis asking me to sell him mine and ship it to Germany!!
Anyway,glad to see you here.
