Last night I read about how a Turntable works

Last night I was messing about with my Techie set up, you know, height of the arm, counter weight and anti skate sort of thing.

Decided to go onto the Ortofon site (that's my cart and stylus brand) for a bit of help and ended up stumbling across an article on how a turntable actually works.

Now I've read with interest all of the tweaks and mods and such that fellow AoS members have done, some of them I didn't understand before I read that article.

I now see the light!!

There's quite a lot more to it than that single sheet would suggest, but it's a good start, Graeme. If you perform a thought experiment about how tiny the stylus movements are, it doesn't take much imagination to understand how important the platform upon which the deck is placed and its isolation from the outside world are.

Then there's power, method of rotation, bearing, type of arm, cartridge etc. etc. Plenty more to learn :)

Just follow some of the threads in Analogue Art, you'll learn ;)
