For whatever reason, I keep getting the " Local music stopped" or whatever it says, and then it will not reconnnect, so I then look at Squeezebox server, to find it has stopped, and I have to reconnect it. Wireless signal strength is 100% if that is relevant.

Any thoughts on why this keeps happening? It seems as if it is preceded with a hiccup or 2 in whatever I am playing from my usb attached hard drive.

Recently I updated to 7.7.2, and then it said new software update available, and displayed 7.7.1!
Anyway, I did a reset of it, and then it displayed 7.7.2 as it's latest, so it went back in.

Oddly, it seems that is when the problems started..........

Sorry cant help but i had the same strange software update back and forth change. Each time it happens i have to wait a day until ipeng sorts itself out.

It won't help you now, but can't your turn off automatic updates - get it to a position where it works then just leave it?
I'm a complete numptard with all things computer, but I managed to set the touch up with no problems (expect several thousand moans from me complaining it's all gone wrong in the very near future) and it seems to be behaving itself ok.

Probably.
Probably not.

In that order :)

Have you tried the official Logitech forum, as well as the unofficial hangover one from Slim Devices days?

Just saw your posts over on the Slim forum.
I hadn't realised that you're using TinySC.
Have you tried a clear library and rescan everything?

In reverse order, yes, very recently.

And what is the difference in the Tiny SC and erm........whatever else the Touch uses.

Sorry about the 2nd bit, but I, like many others didn't acquire a Touch other than just to play music on, and didn't realise you had to be somewhat of a clever bugger to keep it working............remind me again why I sold my CD player!

TinySC is the rather underpowered embedded server.

There are Logitech Media Server downloads of several flavours for installation on a proper computer, whether it runs Windows, Mac OS, Linux etc.

Prior to The Touch being released you had to run server on a seperate machine.
I would think that pretty well all of the Squeezebox users from before Touch days still do run server on a seperate machine - I know I certainly do.

I tried TinySC once, when a machine died on me, and I didn't like it - it was far too slow and clunky
Since then I've used it once (TinySC), when I took my Touch around to a friend's house, and then it was only having to look after about a dozen albums on a USB memory stick; it was OK at doing this, but it's not good enough for general useage IMO.

I currently have LMS version 7.7.1 running on a Zyxel NSA310 (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=12545); prior to this I ran server on a Windows7 PC, and in both cases things run/ran smoothly.

Do you still have the installation file download?

Your music being on the USB HDD presumably?

If you right click on the icon in the task bar you get the option to "Open Web Control" - left click on this option, and this will bring up the browser interface, and if you left click on "Settings" in the bottom right of the page you gain access to another level of server control.
Under the far right tab you'll see which version of server you're running.

Same thing and message happened, so I just came out of it.

What did you mean about the new server for you?

I'm running 7.7.1, which has proved to be stable on both the Win7 PC and the Zyxel NSA310.

The Zyxel hasn't prompted me to ugrade to the latest version, but I wouldn't expect it to - Zyxel have only recently updated their firmware level to one capable of supporting 7.7.1

If you've retrieved the above information from addressing the server on your laptop via a web browser then one of your players has connected to the server.
