Hello, everybody. This is very scary. I feel like I'm playing Blind Man's Buff!
Everybody else can see what's happening, and I'm just fumbling about in the dark!
I think the chief guy has confused me wih somebody who knows what he's doing :scratch:
I must admit that I was a bit surprised that I could 'log on' as I knew that I hadn't complied with the email request, but the reason for that is because I haven't received an email.
Anyway, I think I'm here now and things aren't half as scary as they first seemed! :)
In fact, I could get to like it in here, it's quite cosy... and it's a long time since anybody has called me a junior anything. :lol:

I'll definitely have to go now 'cos I've just burned my tea. :(

Hi again. I've been asked to give a few details about my present system and musical preferences. You will have to show me a little patience because all of this 'simply clicking here and simply clicking there' is not so easy for a dinosaur. Now, I don't know if this following info is going to appear where it is supposed to, or not. I can only try.

I have had to dispense with vinyl because of mobility problems and so, have turned to Compact Disc as my sole (soul, even?) source of music.
Present system is a Quad 77 Integrated amp with a Quad 77 CD player.
Speakers are an old pair of Neat Petites on Celestion stands.
Interconnects are Quadlink between Amp and CD player, and some Chord Silver Something bi-wire cables to the speakers.
Musical tastes are varied from Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac through to popular Classical-especially Opera.

I have recently acquired a Quad 707 power amp which I now realise will not function as I need with the 77 Integrated Amp...so I must find a Preamp. And that, of course, is the story of how I came to be posting on a forum that I am finding great difficulty in negotiating.

Anyway, here goes. I'm gonna post this and cross my fingers that it appears somewhere sensible! :mental:

Hello Peter and a warm welcome the AoS.

Does the 77 have pre-amp output sockets? Look at the link and there is a picture of the rear of the 77 showing pre-out sockets. You could connect to the 707 power amp to the 77 using two rca cables, and then you could use the 707 and 77 as a pre-power combination.

Hiya John. What you are saying is correct...BUT (and it's a big but) it won't then be part of the Quad 'buslink' system and many functions will not be available from the controller. To work it all properly, I need the 77 preamp.
I bought myself a secondhand 707 power amp before Xmas before I discovered this (glum icon), and so the 707 has sat there in its box ever since. Not even opened! (double glum!)
But then I found this site (big hopeful cheesy grin!)

Don't worry too much...my mate retires at the end of next month and I've got plans for him! Just to keep him busy, of course. LoL
