Over a year ago I picked up a Philips 412 mkii cartridge
http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10476
I now have a mkiii and a few spare bits...
I've not been this happy with a cart before, it sounds great on both my Avalon/rb301 and pioneer PL 600x
Te best combo is the mkii on the Avalon ...

But, as was discussed in the original thread about the cart it's not really a match for the rb301 ... I'm wondering of something else might work better?

A few tonearms are mentioned in the thread about the cart but I don't think any would fit on the Avalon even if I could find one ...

Really, I'm quite happy with what I have... The rega is so little faff to set up ... There is just a little bit of me that wonders if I'm missing somthing

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts

Also, not long ago, someone was selling a sexy white plinthed thorens?
Is that still for sale? Might that have an arm on it that might be suitable?
Long shot ...

Hi and a glorious Sunday morning to you from Snowdonia,

I always remembered that Philips T/t's used light weight arms. Maybe a standard 3009 might do the job?

I think that an SME Series III would be the very boy, presuming that it fits on the Avalon. Or perhaps something like a Roksan Nima, as a modern option? :)
