I have a Rega Planar 3 with Super Bias cart and Michell Technoweight mod. I find it too sterile for me. Would a new cart help?

Yes, but is your bike parked outside the baker's shop, or not?

Marco.

I'd park my bike outside the bakers and then nip next door to the hifi shop and buy an AT95e and see what that does - don't forget the Hovis though before you pedal home.

You might just not like the Rega sound, I have 2 tweaked P3 24's one has AT120e and t'other DL-110 - sterile isn't in that part of my vocabulary.

I'll hold my hand up to being a bit of a Rega fan, but I know it's not universal.

You can get an AT95e from Juno for about £35 posted - unless someone has something to loan you as an alternative.

Planar-3 with Super Bias is definitely not sterile. If any criticism can be levelled at the Bias and Super Bias it is about it being 'too warm', not sterile.

What is the system ?

Would help to know what the current system is, amplifier, phono stage, speakers, interconnect cables, speaker cables, equipment tables used, any mains conditioning.

This could be a system synergy issue.

£35 squids sounds like music to my ears:D I will give one a go.

Is Juno an AOS person, or is it a company? On ebay?

I have a Garrard Zero100 SB that someone gave me a few years ago that I have never even tried. Is it worth trying/tweaking/junking?

Would help to know what the current system is,

I'm not so sure it would. Rega decks are very nice, but are generally pretty sterile-sounding. It's a simple fact, I've found.

To the OP, a livelier cartridge would help a great deal but if you have a Zero 100SB knocking around then it would be rude not to give it a try. They can perform very well indeed and even the belt drive version you have (if indeed it is an SB) has a proper motor with lots of torque.
