Visit to Loricraft

Went to the 'Piggery' in Lambourn yesterday to collect the 'ex dem' PRC 4 they advertise. They aren't ex dem at all - in theory the top plate has superficial marks says Terry, so can't be sold as perfect despite being built to order.
Terry works in an oversized barn with his colleague and whilst some Garrard decks were seen around, most of the orders are for the RCMs which seem to go all over the world.
I saw 4 of them in various states of build, and looking at the innards this is high quality stuff, built to last. They don't want them coming back! Seems each one takes a couple of days to make. The pumps certainly look the business - made in UK. Packaging is also exemplary, all the separate bits and bobs in self sealing heavy duty polythene bags.

I had a couple of clear demos and today set it up. Interestingly the top plate was perfect, no blemishes anywhere. Great :)

Have only Terrys PSU for my Garrard but someday will replace my OkkiNokki RCM also with one from Loricraft I hope..

After helping Terry re-launch the Garrard name and the 501, I ended up with a 401 that had Nigel Pearson's prototype 501 motor bearing in it and a Loricraft PRC 3. With rebuilt Rega 301 and Nigel's Missing Link phono stage it sounded amazing. I only sold the 401 when John Michell offered me a good deal on my Orbe with an SME IV. But I swear hell will freeze over before I part with the PRC.

Oh yes, had Missing Link MkI phonostage for a while but that just couldn't match the Shindo Aurieges MM and handcrafted japanese SUT Combo with the cartridges I use, so sold that to a fellow Garrard lover here in Finland.. ;)
