Guys,
Have any of you used this cart, I've been using 1.6-7g but the bass just seems to wallow around. Any ideas on what might be the best tracking weight might be?
Andy
Well, the manufacturers recommended tracking weight is 1.25 to 1.75g, so you are in the right ball park. However, the sound you are describing is one I attribute to excessive tracking weight. Have you tried backing off the tracking weight a touch?

Hi Andrew. The OC9 works best around 1.4-1.5 in my experience.

Trying it now with tracking weight at 1.6g and bass certainly appears to wallow less. Any idea's and how much anti-skate to use?? currently setting is on 1 for my SME V. Will try some of the lower tracking values and report back!
thanks so far;)
Hmm..don't know about an SME V - Guy might have a view as he has one.
there is a little secret to anti skate :)
it involves an acrylic / glass matt , such as the inspire acri mat , i know it sounds crazy but it works , remember your stylus is a diamond , very tough , drop the needle directly onto acrylic / glass mat , and adjust antiskate till the arm stays steady and does not wander in or out , jobs a good one , well worth the ebay prices simply to set your anti skate , and it may just improve your play back sound , (there is an utube video ) if you can be bothered to look up

I set antiskate by ear. Usualy less than the tracking weight but depends on the arm. Try the AT at 1.5 grms downforce.
A good hi fi record should have an anti skate section where it is just blank vinyl.
I think you want it to just to move back towards the outer grooves to get it right.
I understood the stylus needs to be running in a groove for anti-skate to be doing it's work.
Well, I think the exact opposite :-). To Chelsea that is

Yeah, that's wrong IMO and IMI.
However, I'm on board with the sentiment of your second post.
Sorry i thought it had to have a very slight movement to the outer of the lp to counter the tip going in.
