New Amplifier Landed Today - Very Excited!!!!

I managed to acquire a classic old amp today at almost no cost. It needed about 10 minutes work to get it up to standard - a simple DIY job that even I could do!

I'm struggling a bit to find suitable cables for it though - it has a non-standard size of input socket. Perhaps you guys can help me find something suitable.

I'm going to tease you a bit & not tell you what it is while I upload some photos.

Would say that it probably has that woody, boxy sort of sound. Rare to find it these days though. My guess is you will find the controls a bit sticky as well. They don't make them like that any more.

PS Do like the Yamaha. Mine (only a CR840) does headphone duty next to my desk.

Actually it's got a surprising airiness about it, rather than that organic woody sound. Certain passages seem to have a wonderful gossamer-like filigree delicacy to them - however people of a more cynical disposition than myself might call it thin and papery though!

My guess is you will find the controls a bit sticky as well.

No such problem with the tone controls - everything is set to 'flat'!

The 8800 is such a mega cool bit of kit.. And the quad sound scope, love it. Use it sparingly though, those scope tubes are veeeeeeeeeeeery hard to come by.
