Over the years I have noticed that the internal wiring of speakers are very basic compared to external speaker cables, prices of which, as we know, can run into hundreds of Pounds.

Cables in the pics looks like ordinary 5 amp mains cables, with excess length from LF and HF coiled up together.

One would have thought that the internal cables, being so close to huge magnets, need to be well protected.
The ones in the pics are from an active speaker (75+25 Watts RMS) making matters even worse.
Connectors look naff too ...

As a temporary measure, I am thinking of twisting them together (UTP style)

Any thoughts?!

The fact that it is near a magnet doesn't matter; unless the cable is actually wrapped around the magnet (which it won't be).

Push on connectors are used for ease of construction; a soldered connection is better and lots of well constructed speakers do have all soldered connections.
