If that was closer to home I would be very tempted - looks totally genuine to me but for something like that I would collect personally and pay cash even if it meant a long round trip. No chance of loss or damage and no chance of being scammed.

Dom has 3 x 948s to work on, but sadly for us we don't own them. I sadly, but I mean sadly for Dom, I'm quite glad really. They are not as pretty as say Technics or a Garrard. They seem to be very industrial looking. But as I was informed by Dom, they are a very mean machine lolololol.

I noticed this when it was first posted and have put in a few bids to test the water.
Looks like it will go for many thousands.
Not sure how well it is isolated from airborne and structure borne vibration, being designed as a studio machine, rather than for use in the music room.
OTOH I guess a lot of enthusiasts like the added reverb this gives, judging by the lack of popular isolated designs these days.

It does indeed! What arm and cartridge are you using with your (930?), Partrick - is the cartridge a TSD-15, and the arm, an Ortofon?

It's an EMT 927 Marco, fitted with an Ortofon arm (probably an RMA 927, an OEM model for EMT) and a TSD-15 (or possibly a TSD-12) cartridge.

It's an EMT927 with an Ortofon 12"-ish arm as Barry says, but the cartridge is a DL103 squeezed into an EMT headshell. I have a couple of the original mono Ortofon heads but they need rebuilding.

It originally came from Granada TV and was mono (mono arm wiring and mono valve phono amp). J7 rewired the arm to stereo for me, so I can use it with an external phono amp.

"Squeezed" being the operative word. I had a go - failed miserably and broke one the headshell leads. :doh:

So I 'cheated' and bought one fitted into an EMT TSD-G shell from a seller on eBay. :)

Drool... I love EMT's but my pockets aren't deep enough :)

Have you any 16" transcription discs to play on your machine Patrick? There must be some very interesting old 16" discs out there.

Sadly not - I've never seen one.

They come up on eBay in the US but postage makes them a bit expensive for what they are.
