I'd been tasked by an old mate of mine to put together a new system for him after his divorce, so money was limited. This is what I've come up with
NAD 3020A amplifier
Marantz CD67SE CD
Celestion Ditton 15XR speakers
Speaker stands - Home made
Speaker cable - 29p a meter bell wire!
total cost £150 give or take a tenner.
I'll be adding a 1210 when I can find one for a decent price.
Sounds - Bloody brilliant - I'm rocking out to some Halford. I've not plugged my 1210 in yet but thats for another day. I've included a few snaps. :hairmetal:
That's a great value system!

Tell him to start saving for some better speaker cable :D That'd make a decent difference for not a great deal of cash..
Yep, nice little system for very little money

TBH thats just some stuff I had left over! I even have some QED SA  Its his money at the end of the day so thats his prob!!
May seem like a strange question, but is that nad modified? i have a 2030a and it dont have that dimple next to the headphone socket, and the graphics are dif?
The scary thing is that set ups like these often give 90% of what £10K of exotic kit will.
I think there were more than 1 version of the 3020a over time, not all of them had the power meters IIRC

No mods that I'm aware of. I've not opened the thing up. This is extremely unusual behaviour for me as its usually the 1st thing I do!

Point well made but the 15xr's are sadly no match for my ATC 50ASL's ;)BUT, the noise coming out from this little system is surprisingly pleasent and could very easily make up a second system. This 3020a does indeed have the power meter over the volume control. This is the 1st 3020A i've had in my listening room so I dont know a great about them.

Are they the same model of ATC that were on demo at Scalford run with a laptop and DAC? If so I am well jealous Andy

Martin,
I have the active version of these http://www.atcloudspeakers.co.uk/scm50.php. I didn't go to Scalford :( thats one of my "to-do" things at some point in time.

Yep that looks like them. Seriously good in a 'takes no prisoners' sort of way. I would buy some tomorrow if they were not so expensive (although I appreciate why they are so expensive if you see what I mean).

I dropped on very lucky with my pair, I managed to bag them for a decent price. I also got the preamp for far far less than what it should have cost :eyebrows:
