For sale:
Logitech Squeezebox Duet
This comprises of the SB Receiver and the SB Controller.
Basically a "headless" SB controlled via the Controller, or more likely today a smart phone or tablet app, this is ideal for hiding away. I know of someone who has this paired with a small amp and speakers sitting on top of kitchen cabinets totally out of sight. I used it in my office system.
Being as this is AoS and not fleaBay, some home truths. The Controller is a £100 piece of shite . Not your usual sales pitch, I know, but it does need to be said. Yes, it works. But the screen is small and dim. It can take several long seconds - seems longer - for it to wake up and connect sometimes. Battery life is poor, too. The battery in mine is nearing the end of its life, but the thing does work ok sitting in the charging cradle.
How folk can sell these for £250 on eBay beggars belief. :steam:
However, the Receiver is not shite! Especially when used with ethernet rather than wireless. It's only needed rebooting when I've upgraded the Server and a firmware update comes along. This is when you NEED the Controller to set it up on the network. Otherwise control it with the web GUI (especially in an office setting), or smart phone app. (There is an unsupported way of setting it up without the controller, but I've never used/needed it.)
I've been using it with a good DAC (also for sale (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16807)) and it's been great. The only downside being its limit of 48KHz sampling frequency. Higher res stuff plays fine, but is downsampled by the server.
So, I'd like £100 or offers for this please, plus shipping. (You get the Controller thrown in for free).
Thanks for reading this far . . .
