I still clearly remember my utter contempt (bordering on disgust) when I worked a contract assignment at a local radio station. Here was a dream opportunity. I could move up (or over, or down actually) and might actually become a DJ one day. When I realized there were no turntables and that everything was actually prerecorded and/or fed in from somewhere else, it was one of the biggest let downs I've ever had in my life. Needless to say, I didn't stay long. I might have stomached it for a week and that was a week too long. Years after that I visited a radio station where the control room was just a couple of computers, an automated playlist and a microphone, FFS!! Wretched awful shite! I have no love for it.
