View Full Version : FS: Rare DNM PA2 monoblocks
Rare DNM PA2 Monoblocks for sale.
Amps are in excellent condition and sounding superb!
I think they are 70W each - the highest powered amps DNM made and the only monoblocks they've made.
I have a crate for the amps but not the power supplies and they come with original DNM power cords.
I think original price was in the region of £4300 when released.
Asking £1100 - am based in central London

These wont be around for long at that price.
Delicious!
Hopefully!
Personally I find the acyrilc cases of DNM gear quite stunning.

DNM were very highly rated by Hi-Fi Answers in the late 80's. Their regular "best buy" list had the DNM series 3 amps in it - rather than Naim.
The PA2 was on the cover of the March '89 edition and the review by Jimmy Hughes ended with "enthusiastic recommendation".

March 89 eh, I'll have to look out for a copy (you don't happen to have the issue and you fancy scanning do you?)
They were still made and sold by DNM through to the mid-nineties. They're in the buying guide in Hifi Choice in 1995 still.

Anytime matey!
Interesting to see the price change.. In my 1995 Hifi Choice they are listed at £4000 - £4500, double the price in '89..
Annoying too that this review states Denis as saying they will work safely with his 3A pre with an 82ohm resistor in line with the earth yet when someone equired about my amps, Denis told him that they wouldn't work at all unless he bought the 3B instead (their Start range) so then the interested buyer declined...
Maybe I should get my 3A Twin fixed and offer them as a pair (3A has a power supply problem)..
As an aside, the 3A Twin is interesting in that it has a pair of completely hand-made capacitors! Hand rolled and sealed inside a ready-made tube (yes I did take a look inside and sealed them again) and a DNM sticker added.
Does make me want to make my own capacitors, get some solid silver sheeting etc
Anytime matey!
I'll forgo the embarrasing kiss next time.. (but you'll know the sentiment is there).
P.S. I think I forgot to reply when you were PMing me about finding a review of my Higher Fidelity integrated.. sorry about that (I was taking a break from forums at the time, takes up too much time sometimes). Thanks for looking for me though.
This is indeed a very rare pair of amps. I've seen the smaller, lower powered, ones before (and they are already pretty rare), but never these more powerful ones.
To be honest, I think anyone intending to buy these will already have a DNM pre-amp - don't you think?
I would have thought so .. Unless you're a box swapper!
Might be getting my 3A Twin pre-amp back working soon and would be happy to sell as a pre-power set when ready (as per the review above).
Bump for some rare and fantastic sounding monoblocks
I still have these for sale!

Dan,
Please do as you were asked in the email you received when you joined. In that email, it was made very clear that the Art of Sound community expects new members to introduce themselves before anything else. We also rather frown on people who join just so that they can use the advertising facility that is provided for our established members.
