Napster changing

Napster is combining with Rhapsody. Anyone with an account will have to change or adopt a new Rhapsody plan by Monday - 19th March, otherwise all the playlists will be lost. I think it's possible to get a plan which is similar to one which a user has now, but this does have to be done otherwise access to the music will be lost.

It's not obvious at all what to do, but I have lost my playlists (a pity, as some might be hard to replicate again, and even just knowing what was in them would help.

I looked to see if there was any advice on the Napster site. There was advice, but it wasn't really relevant. So far this looks like a rather badly organised switchover. Maybe my playlists can be recovered or will come back. If they don't then I'll very likely go into "I'm not carrying on with this service" mode, and cancel my subscription.

I meant to deal with these "issues" yesterday, but got side-tracked with more urgent things. However, it does look as though there was insufficient information to do anything sensible anyway. Maybe "complaints" or "help requests" to customer services might elicit a response.

Got an email about it today which was quite informative. Does anyone know if the resolution for streams is going up?

At last I seem to have got this fixed. Actually my playlists didn't get wiped, which was good. Customer service was reactive rather than proactive. I hadn't a clue what was going on, and it does look as though I was unsubscribed from a plan, but I still had a login ID. Once I contacted customer service they set me up with a new 2 weeks trial, after which they will continue as before - I hope.

Re quality - I'm not sure. I think it sounds better, but I don't have any technical details. I thought the switch over could have been done better, but in the end it hasn't been a disaster.

I'm not sure what other advantages Rhapsody/Napster has for me now. Some people say that the radio stations are good news, and maybe if I can get it to work with my SB3 that'll be good. I may even be able to operate without having to have my computer on as a server (for Spotify).

I think there is music which isn't available on other services - so that's good, and £5 per month for a non mobile subscription seems quite good value to me.

I've heard from elsewhere that new Napsody uses (at best) 192kbps AAC. I haven't any other source to corroborate this, but it seems plausible. For many practical purposes this is acceptable.
