As part of an on going purge of my beloved gear I'm now selling my CR3E. any ideas how much one of these is worth?

Andy, this discussion may be of interest http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=14227 - depends on condition of course. If its never been serviced I would factor that into the price if I were buying a deck...

I think the CR3E had a reliable but noise gear drive to the hubs, this retaining the winding and take up torques. Previous generations used a silent idler drive which went slippy after a few years. nakamichi did a kit to update these machines.

All you really have to check with one of these is the pressure rollers for cleanliness. I think the internal belts last well, but we are looking at twenty five years or so now, so anything is possible I suppose (crikey, I sold my CR7 in 1995, seventeen years ago now...)

Value? Who wants cassettes?

You'd be surprised. There's a serious subculture dedicated to archiving and enjoying old tapes. Decent machines are highly sought after.

No one. No one at all. Please hunt down and send all 3-head (and some 2-head) cassette decks you come across to either Nick or myself. We will dispose of them properly as the rubbish they are. Thanking you in advance. ;)
