There are a few of these isolated videos on youtube.

They really show just how good Karens vocals were.

She could certainly show the pop singers of today a thing or to. No double tracking or other such jiggery pokery. Just her and the mike.

According to the uploader of Superstar the vocal played here are recorded from the first take.

Biff could not have put this better myself, an incredible singer who imho was very underated.

Well to be honest, Karen was as beautiful as they come but putting that aside, I remember way back when watching her dominate a drum kit. She was just awesome to watch.
I just cant be having the contrived performers of today. By and large there isn't a musical note in their body. I had to stop listening to Shakira since she went "mainstream" and started singing in English dressing like a pole dancer to boot.

She had the most perfect voice, fantastic pitch control and was an incredible drummer too. Thought provoking to wonder at how things might have turned out had she survived.

Heard Rumer - it's not the same as listening to Karen Carpenter, although Rumer's voice does have similar tonal qualities :)

Have to agree with Chris, Rumer is good but not up there with the likes of Karen Carpenter and k d lang.
