Just wanted to share something as I think many here use Amazon (as I do) for a lot of purchasing.
I often check prices before ordering and if you do too, you will likely have spotted this as well. Last week I wanted the new Snakefarm album which was £11.99 on Amazon, but only £9.99 at HMV - today I noticed Snakefarm is down to £10.90 at Amazon, at HMV it's still £9.99. Not a huge difference, however this is a biggy - I like the newly released Amy Ray album 'Lung of Love' and this is £14.86 at Amazon, but get this....... only £5.99 at HMV :eek: So worth shopping around if you don't already.
No prizes for guessing where the order went.
Blimey - that it is a big difference... :eek: It always used to be the other way round, I guess Amazon are probably playing on our complacency??? Luckily I didn't order the Amy Ray album from Amazon yet...

I have found HMV to be cheaper than Amazon on many albums. But often Amazon do have a more comprehensive catalogue. Have bought a few LPs from their USA site and have always received excellent service from them.

its also worthwhile checking amazon.COM and not amazon.co.uk, I got the Jimi Hendrix Winterland box set for less than $70 delivered from the state, same thing on amazon.co.uk well over £100, not including postage :eek:
Amazon get pretty much all my orders, but hmv.jp are excellent for SACDs and other rarities.
Frankly, I think HMV are on their deathbed. I don't expect them to last much longer.

Most weeks I will be in either Poole or Yeovil. Both have an HMV and both are usually very quiet. It would be disappointing if HMV were no longer represented on the high street. :(

Ugh! So I spent an extra £2 buying the Snakefarm disc from Amazon. :doh:
But I have such a poor opinion of HMV that I wouldn't think of looking at their on-line shopping site.
I couldn't care less if the HMV high street shops disappear. HMV have done their level best to push out smaller, family based, record shops (and bookshops) here, it would bloody well serve them right. :steam:

Not to mention that, even in their death throes, their strategy stinks by devoting a large part of the store to computer accessory shite that all the other computer stores sell. Did no-one at HMV think that their original core values were MUSIC and perhaps they should return to it? Imagine a large, well-lit store devoted to music CDs, vinyl, posters, music DVDs, music books and listening booths with headphones? All keenly priced. Perhaps the occasional live performer. Could it really be worse than what they are doing now, which is slowly dying through ignorant management?

Spyro Gyra - Foreign Affair ..Amazon £21.99...same disc HMV £8.99 surely shom mistake...:stalks:still prefer Amazon for most music purchases..their HI fi stuff aint bad either bought a Pioneer sacd player and a Nad cd player recently couldn't find the same cheaper anywhere else on the net.:eek:

Ouch, that's a lot of points missed Alex :( Get an Amazon Mastercard too and you get extra points - I use Nectar and the Amazon card for all my purchases and get £10.00 vouchers quite often ;) (too often actually, which means I'm spending too much.... :scratch:)

Well I don't think I will be using HMV much more, no wonder they are going down the toilet! Neither order has been fulfilled yet after 10 days, but at least they haven't taken any payments from my credit card.
I think it's back to Amazon and Play for most of my purchases. :(

Tim - if they're not being given stock by suppliers because of credit issues then they won't last long at all. This is the position that Game are in. My suggestion is not to have too much back-ordered with them unless you pay by credit card, in which case you'll be protected. Debit cards are not protected.
Speaking of Nectar points, I won 10,000 today in a BP prize draw. A bonus month with Amazon is on the horizon :)

What Amazon is great for is 2nd hand cd's, I love picking up 0.01p albums - after a quick listen on Spotify, Itunes etc. It's great for reliving your yoof or expanding your musical horizon. I have made some blunders though, really not sure how many plays I'll get from a Blue Note Records organ recital album, but hey ho. Could chance my arm and put it back on at 0.02p!
