Have just signed up to this forum - some of you may know me from other forums I've belonged to for the last few years (or maybe not!)
Like many of you I expect, I have a long standing interest in music and particularly enjoy listening to my favourites through my constantly-evolving system.
I listen to vinyl (Technics SP10/SME IV & Goldring G1042); CD (Toshiba SD900e) and downloads (Asus HD-P R1/Yamaha DSP-E800 as DAC only) plus some occasional radio programmes (Humax Freesat HD box via Yamaha).
Have recently bought a McIntosh MA5100 (solid state) integrated amp, which is at least 40 years old but (to my ears) sounds phenomenal.
Prior to this, I have used all sorts of other amplifiers, both integrated and pre/power, having also had a flirtation with multi-channel audio along the way (at one point using Luxman monos to drive rear 'speakers - what was I thinking?!)
As you have probably deduced, loudspeakers are my current 'moving target' although a pair of Spendor SP2s I have on loan are making some very nice noises and are showing me a possible route to follow (have always had good results from 'BBC' loudspeakers in the past, eg Rogers LS4a; LS3/5a and Rogers Export Monitors, although I have also used things as varied as Yamaha NS1000Ms and Linn Kans along the way!
