The greatest electrical pioneer of them all was Thomas Edison, who was a brilliant inventor despite the fact that he had little formal education and lived in New Jersey. Edison's first major invention in 1877 was the phonograph, which could soon be found in thousand of homes, where it basically sat doing nothing until 1923, when the record was invented.

But Edison's greatest achievement came in 1879 when he invented the electric company. Edison's design was a brilliant adaptation of the simple electrical circuit: the electric company sends electricity through a wire to a customer, then immediately gets the electricity back through another wire, then (this is the brilliant part) sends it right back to the customer again.

This means that an electric company can sell a customer the same batch of electricity thousands of times a day and never get caught, since very few customers take the time to examine their electricity closely. In fact, the last year any new electricity was generated was 1937.

I read a while ago that Ali nicks his in buckets from work. I’m not Scottish but I am a great admirer of Scottish thrift so I had a go at this myself. :)

Getting the leccy in the bucket wasn’t too difficult, but trying to walk home without touching the ground takes an awful lot of practice. I understand why all those miners looked black now from back in the day when coal was used to make leccy. :eek:
I tried rubber buckets before any smart arse tells me I was doing it wrong and i think rubber buckets must leak or somat coz they were always empty by the time i got home.
I got it sorted in the end though, feckin great milk float batteries. Must really piss the leccy companies off. Must be like havin a wee black hole on the grid. :D

Well, I think the new stuff gives a massive improvement in my system.
Course, you need top flight kit to really appreciate the huge sonic improvements.

I've tried cleaning it; even got a bit of Youngs experiment setup going so i can do one electron at a time but no matter how hard i try to count them out and back in, once they been cleaned the numbers never quite tally. :scratch:
