I want to pay tribute to the bravery of Marie Colvin American war reporter for the Sunday Times who was brutally killed by Syrian army shelling of the city of Homs.

We owe reporters like this a great dept of thanks, for without their bravery and courage, coverage of events like this would not happen and we would be in the dark re the terrible acts of brutality committed by armies and governments during conflicts round the world.

You can read more about Marie Colvin here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/9098175/Syria-Sunday-Times-journalist-Marie-Colvin-killed-in-targeted-attack-by-Syrian-forces.html

and also here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Colvin

It is clear from Marie's coverage of the Syrian attacks on Homs that they have been attacking defenceless civilians, who just want to leave Homs and are not tied in with the Free Syrian army.

I hope that the world will now take notice and some form of action against Syria occur but sadly I doubt it, as China and Russia who support and have much invested in China will block all such action.

French photographer Remi Ochlik was also killed during this attack and I pay tribute to him as well. You can read about him here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9mi_Ochlik

Photographer and cameraman Paul Conroy was also injured during the attack and I wish him the best and hope that he can be got out of Homs and makes a speedy recovery.

Heard this sad and distressing news first thing this morning on BBC4 FM and again on BBC1 TV at lunchtime. Can't the people who live in Russia and China or their citizens living in the West see what is happening????? As a British young man (Syrian father/English mother) out there recently said, 'its because there is no OIL here'. My two cents worth is that the powers that be in Russia and China must be a right load of A grade bastards, why bother to trade with them?
