What's very, very interesting to note, assuming the information presented is correct, is that the specs of the 12/13/14/1500MK2 series exactly match that of the SP-10MK2 (unless I'm reading it wrong). Spec-wise, it would seem only an SP-10MK3 betters the MK2 series of tables (pre any modifications).
At the risk of asking myself a redundant question, I wonder what I would really be gaining with an SP-10MK2 over a fully modded 1200. Or is it that a fully modded 1200 (especially with a PSU, platter and bearing upgrade) actually surpasses the SP. If this information is correct, a dead heat at the start between the two, with the only differences being torque and the sound of the platter (due to weight and material), then would it not be safe to assume that a better bearing, custom platter and over-spec'd PSU, improve the specs of the 1200, therefore surpassing the specs of the SP?
Too bad I don't have the where with all to do the comparison.

why not buy one of these decks then and be smug that you've bought something at a fraction of the cost of the sp10 with the same specs :D

The blurb is in dodgy Japlish but it's pretty clear that the arm is totally servo controlled, you never have to touch it:

Yes, it's all servo operated and as smooth as a freshly-buttered banister in operation!
It even has arm forward and arm back buttons for manual operation so, as the blurb says, you really do never need to touch the arm.
However, most importantly, the rosewood base is gloriously shiny and it has a nice set of LEDs to show you whether the arm is in standby mode, cueing or operation mode. I'm sure these only add to its lovely sound quality!

Update - The SL-MA1 might be coming to Scalford Hall!
Obviously this is because I want to showcase its loveliness as part of my 1980s system, and nothing to do with the fact that my B&O Beogram 8002 originally intended for the system is currently defying all attempts to make it work again.... :scratch:
