I don’t think he’ll be back. :(

I want to say thanks for the attention you tried to give to all, no matter what kit they had and no matter what level of knowledge they had.
I want to say thanks for all the interesting and often unusual music you brought to the forums.
I want to say thanks for sharing your not inconsiderable knowledge of electronics.
I want to say thanks for all the help you gave to many of the contributors here.

I hope you turn up somewhere on the net, if not here, because this hobby needs people like you mate.

Hi John,

I spoke to Mark on the phone yesterday, and he told me that he was coming to Scalford to meet everyone there, and that at the moment he's just having a rest from the forum. There was no definite decision made about not coming back.

I'm sure that he will in due course because, as you correctly outline, he's a much liked and valued member of our community :)

Marco.

This darned place does seem to be addictive. Hopefully Mark will be back, as I very much enjoyed his contributions and want to meet him sometime to further pick his brains :)

It's a huge shame that he's felt the need to stop posting. He's a good bloke and will be sorely missed.

I hope you're wrong on your first point John - but you're certainly not wrong on the other 4 - I too hope Mark will be back - the place needs a mad scientist in situ! ;)

Sorry - I'm being a bit thick here, but who is Mark Reid? What is his forum name?

Marco

Mark, Reid Malenfant, Barry :)

Mark, Reid Malenfant, Barry :)

Marco.

Thanks Marco. I did wonder but it's not made clear in his profile. Trust he is only taking a bit of a break and his leave of absence is temporary, and not the result of some internal dispute.

Sorry to say this John, and with all due respect, but this is becoming an "I know something you lot don't" kind of thread and serves no purpose other than pique unnecessary and unwanted curiosity, if you see what I'm getting at. Had Mark just stopped posting for a couple of weeks, it could have been just a natural holiday or break away and nobody would have been any the wiser. All this "He probably won't be back" stuff naturally makes us ask "Why?" when it is probably none of our business..

Yeah, your probably right Dave although it is all in the threads somewhere unless its been deleted.

No worries though mate, I'm taking a "sabbatical" as well.

Well, well, you learn something every day eh.

There I was looking for an "Internet able shotgun for tossers" on Google and what i should have typed in was Sabbatical.
Could have saved myself some very embarrassing and frequent visits from the Internet snoop squad of the police if I had only known this. ;)

Maybe I'm being thick, but I don't have a clue, John, what you're on about?

He told me a few weeks ago that he was going to have a break from it all, i just took it that he wanted a bit of 'me' time away from the net to concentrate on other things in his life, i didn't bother asking him why as he seemed ok, with no real issues. TBH a few months ago i took a bit of a break as you can get to a point that your whole life revolves around this site and you get lost in the thick of it all, not a healthy place to be:(. But i really like this forum and the break did me good. I'm sure he'll be back when he's ready, and i look forward to catching up at Scalford;)
