My system consists of a modified Technics SL1210 turntable with a Dynavector 20XL cartridge (the cart in the photo is my backup AT 150MLX). The Dyna goes through a step-up unit that I built with CineMag transformers then a tube preamp based on John Broskie's PCBs (phono stage is Tetra; line stage is Aikido). My amp is Bob Latino's Dynaco-clone ST-120 and my speakers are two-way units designed by John Krutke and built from a Madisound kit.

That's a good looking Techie! Bet it sounds good with the Dynavector and your tube phono stage.

I like the 1200 placed in a wooden surround - kab (used to?) offer that option.

While KAB still supplies a wooden drop-in enclosure for the 1200, my wood enclosure is an apron only with three sides. I had changed the stock feet on my techie for the main reason they were old and not very good anymore. I had a friend machine some bronze into pointed feet which then sit on a 2"x2" hard maple frame with Sorbothane hemispheres under it to isolate from footfalls ~ I have an Airedale who likes to romp :+) ~ and other sources of vibration.

This meant that my table sat up quite high off the equipment rack shelf: My solution was to make a black walnut (very traditional) apron finished with garnet shellac and a bit of wood inlay.

gives it a bit of the Merrill table vibe, looks-wise - very nice.

Hi Jostber, I really do like the sound of the Dynavector 20XL. It has nice solid bass while also giving lots of detail. The phono stage has NOS Telefunken 12AX7 in the first position then NOS Amperex D-Getter 12AT7 tubes all with Herbie's tube dampers. The line stage has all NOS Amperex Bugle Boy 12AU7.
