OK im not trying to be funny but i have bought an older cd player that
1 i would think some will poo poo
2 never thought i would ever buy
I havent got it yet and hope it will be hear before the week end.

i was just trolling over the ones i was offered on here and on wigwam and was looking through the other sites when i stumbled across it and thought emmmmm never really thought of that. so did a lot of reading and joined the associated forum for more details and decided what the hell, so bought a minty one for £300 posted.
gonna keep a lid on it for now,
so go on have a guess which make and model and the winner will get a wee suprise in the post.
I will run it and review it good or bad next week sometime.
so there you go, or not as the case may be.:ner:

Back when these were new I quite fancied one. You put the disc in upside down, as the draw mechanism had a mini turntable to support the disc (hence the Stable Platter moniker). I think they were around at the same time as the VRDS players. Plus there was this filtery gubbins Pioneer called Legato Link to smooth the high frequencies.

Yes really good mech and wadia used the same on most of there players so not too shabby at all. Looks wise wont matter to most but i like stuff to be nice to look at as well as sound good. sallow hal of me but hey so feck! i am shallow.
Dont know what this will be like sound wise but from what i have read and going by the forum it belongs to its a bit of a giant killer and off most audiophiles radar. Time will tell, im waiting by my window for a big white van, hope it comes today then i can get a good listen and give you my review. I will be honest good or bad. Thing is it has a digital out and i have a superb valve dac so if the dac in the player is not as good as i have read i will use as a transport with my dac as the build of the transport is fantastic so should go a long way to the quality of sound.
Keep fishing though im having a ball!;)

No missed a sugden and a theta at the price and was sooo dissapointed.
Prize will have to go to BOB!
Its a BEOGRAMM CD7000 ALL BLACK,
it was the last of the seperates they made and has a great following looks lovely slim, sleek and well built. has a really nice transport mech machined from quality alloy, lovely slim remote all alloy too.
looks same as the cd50 pictured but all black and a nice glass top, hope it sounds as good as it looks, never ever thought of B&O on my hi fi journey but remember my uncle had a full B&O seperates system tears ago with TT amp speakers and a reel to reel.
Dont know what it sounded like but his house was ultra modern seventies and was a stunning home to look at.
great fun this but would have been unfair to Bob to continue as he was as close as a close thing from closeville
Any thoughts?
all welcome good or bad as i say not well received as far as audiophools are concerned but i have always done my own thing and learned from that

Dont know much about NOS what would that do in sound quality terms?

Ali Tait
17-02-2012, 13:16
Hard to say until you try it, though some folk prefer the sound of these types of dac, saying they sound more relaxed and analogue - like, and sound more "musical" with better flow to the sound. Try it and see.

will run it as is then with my dac attached will only be used from time to time but i think its well worth the money given the sum of the parts inside.

nice one!
wasnt sure i did the right thing, nearly bought a linn genki, Karik, myryad cdt600, meridian 200 and a cec transport, Also missed out on a theta jade transport and an old sugden.

Dont know why but once i saw the drawer thought cant be bad if it has a quality transport mech, read a bit and the more i looked at the pictures really started to love the looks.
So tell us what you thought when you owned yours and if anything to look for or avoid doing etc

mine is an all black one and i paid £300 for it inc post. Was rather more than those around ebay that were a lot cheaper, one guy had a cd7000 and the matching amp all black and no bids at a small starting bid of £149 each, Didnt get sold. He has now relisted as a BIN for £249?????????????????????????? what goes on in peoples head?
Another guy sells all beo stuff and his are all checked and look in stunning condition all around my price. worth a good look around if you wanting one.
