Would this VMS20 suit my Dual 504 tt playing through a moving magnet phono stage?

Any ideas?

I know nothing about the Ortofon cartridge etc...

Missed this, but yes, a VMS20 will work in a Duad 504.. Don't worry though, try to find an OM20, which will suit the Dual's sonics better I think..

To the buyer of the 20 - if it doesn't have one, get and fit a CAP210 to the pins at the back, which I find cleans up the extreme treble. Should you ever look that way, the VMS30 stylus will lift it further later on and I think originals can still be got at not silly money.

Hi David, yes - I bought this from Andy. I have looked around for a CAP-210 as per your advice and called Walrus (thinking I could just pop in and pick one up) but they hadn't even heard of it. The best I can come up with at the moment is this link: http://www.tradera.com/ortofon-cartridge-capacitor-for-mk-ii-models-cap-210-auktion_302048_148254096
Which as you can see is in Sweden!
Do you think North West Analogue may be able to help?

They used to come up on ebay regularly for around a fiver (Uk pounds)..

Les and Pete not remembering the Cap210? Children both - and I was a work colleague of Pete once (in different branches of KJ...)

CAP 210s were in plentiful supply back in the 80s when the VMS20E was in its heyday. I had one on my VMS, and much better it was with the CAP 210 onboard (actually it just slotted in between the four cartridge out pins on the back of the body).

Well, cartridge has arrived and I would just like to say, there are professional organisations who would do well to take a lesson from Andy's packaging. Short of driving a 32Ton truck over it there was no way it could have been damaged in transit!
Thanks.

Pleased to see that it has arrived in a safe condition.

Perhaps years of riding and maintaining old British bikes creates a bit of an over-engineering mentality?
