Amp recommendations for Decca London Ribbon Tweeters please.

Thanks to a fellow AOS member I am now a proud owner of a pair of Decca London Ribbon Tweeters :yay:.

My plan is to built an three way system run by three amps/amp pairs. Mids will be driven by my Art Audio Diavolo and low frequencies will be handled by a pair of my XTZ Sub Amp 1's . It all is in the planning board stage, but it will for sure contain one or two Bastanis OB wideband drivers in OB configuration per speaker and Decca London tweeters.

What I am after now is suitable amplifiers for the Decca Ribbon Tweeters. I am thinking something with good high frequency extension and mono blocks if possible. Deccas are around 89db sensitive and only require less that 30W power really.

Any suggestions?

nice link, they are suggesting a Rogers master amp in one picture which runs EL34's and puts out 30 or so watts, Dynaco ST70 has the same power as well, you need to find a valve you like though ---- decisions decisions :scratch:

Could the T-amps be one possibility? Cheap as chips and readily available.

Speedy Steve uses them on his horns as well as a el84 valve amp, you don't know till you've tried and they are very tempting at the price :)

Hi Ali.
Would it make sense for tweeters use only? I am not sure how much difference one will hear between SS and valves above 3000 Hz? I really don't have experience and that's the reason for the inquiry :scratch:.

Well it's what I would use. SE amps excel in the treble IMHO. I reckon it would give the best imaging and soundstaging too. In fact the output transformers could be specifically designed just to produce the frequencies you want, which would improve performance even more.

The Rogers Master power amp uses Radford transformers and gives a similar performance/ sound to the Radford STA25 III. Both excellent amplifiers.

That is all new info for me, many thanks Ali. Nick is really 'the man' to talk to. I have already used him few times on my quest for hifi nirvana :eyebrows:.
