Did you buy one before reviews etc because of your faith in the brand or just to demo it for yourself?
Hi Martin,
I was told by a colleague how it sounds as he heard it in a secret demo many months ago and as you have noted my faith in the brand is high, it would be even if I did not sell it as they have so many outstanding products I could spend the rest of my life trying them all out.
The ADL range which is within this DAC's family has proved so popular Furutech recently opened a European distribution centre to handle the massive demand. Every time some GT40 DAC | Headphone amps arrive they all get sold the same day! I would think it will be the same with this new DAC.
As soon as I have mine I will report on my findings, I will try it with my SB Touch initially as I am currently using the Touch's own DAC as it sounds so good when used with a decent PSU.
At the enjoythemusic.com news site it says at the 13th of March that Furutech has started shipping the Esprit DAC now.
I was told today by Furutech April, no date though just April.

Shouldn't a unit at that price have xlr's, or is that not indicative of quality?

the back panel is a bit short on space dude

Never understood why companies don't put better psu with there products if there is a big difference to be had?

Nothing wrong with SMPS. It's the implementation of the application that determines if it is a good idea or not. But you won't know which is best unless you first compare the options against each other.

The GT40 is an AC-AC wall wart PSU, one would assume the Esprit is the same if one could get hold of one!

The Esprit was on show at Munich, I listened to it through some £1000 cans and it has a very good headphone section. Furutech do not make "mediocre" products so I fully expect the Esprit to perform way above it's price level. The demand for the ADL range has become so large Furutech have opened a European distribution hub to help cope with demand.
The delay in shipping the Esprit is down to computer chip shortages. Apparently Furutech wanted a few thousand but a large OEM wanted a few million so they got in first. Or so I was told.

Most of today I have been listening to the Furutech Esprit comparing it with the M-Dac, Bushmaster and the Touch's own internal DAC when powered by Nick's PSU. As the Esprit is 15V DC I also used a spare 15V Linear PSU I had to hand to power the Esprit.

Results are very encouraging indeed, the Esprit is a marvel for the physical size of it, solidly constructed and it even has some decent feet on it which makes a change. Initially it was a bit bright with Cara Dilon's vocal sounding screechy, after 2 hours solid it began to mellow out and after 5 hours I was there with her on the stage.

Of course I don't expect many to take any notice of my comments as I sell the DAC, if you are however in the market for a £1k DAC then I urge you to audition the Esprit and a good linear PSU will make it sound even better.

As yet I have not seen this version anywhere, any comments on this would be very much appreciated. As I am not a great fan of the two tone look, i.e. silver nobs on black fascia, much preferring the all silver look of the GT-40.
Not a deal breaker for me, just a preference. :)
