Hi all,

Joined this forum because found quite a few threads of interest. Namely relating to turntables (as I am still new to it all and in the process of finding bits and pieces to get a decent rig going).

My system has been constantly changing in the past few years, but currently I have a custom 3-way active horn speaker system (using GOTO woofers, GOTO midrange horns and G.I.P. Laboratory WE597A tweeters). Running a few Hiraga Le monstre 8watt class A amps. A Pioneer D-23 electronic crossover manages the speakers.

My digital source comprises of a Mac Mini Server running Pure Music playback with FabFilter Pro Q plugin. A jkeny modded Hiface USB I2S battery powered module goes into a Twisted Pear Opus 24/192 DAC with O'netics output transformers. Also use a USB DDDAC1543 MK2 DAC that runs 120x TDA1543 chips.

I am into vocal acoustic, jazz, classical, soft rock, blues, pop, etc. Pretty much everything except headbanging material.

Recently picked up a Marantz 7C preamp and an Accuphase C-220 phono preamp. Now looking for a nice turntable to be able to play my record collection. Looking at a Garrard 301 in nice heavy ply plinth, 12" schick arm and some decent head/cart? or maybe a Lenco PTP ?? Still unsure at this point!

Hope to stick around and share more with you all!

Best,
Tuyen

Hi
Here's a warm welcome from me.
I think there will be plenty of folks here who'd love to know about your power amps - did you build them yourself?
Next stop The Gallery - we like to see photos!

Cheers

Hi Tuyen, welcome!

Are your Hiragas the Hungarian built ones? I saw a pic somewhere once, looked like a good job. Does the builder have a website?

Cheers,

Clive

Hello Clive,

Indeed they were the hungarian built ones. The builder doesn't have a website that I know of. I will post some photos of the amps soon :)

I was going to say the casework is cool but that's the wrong term! :)
