FS: Glenn Croft Quad II monoblock amplifiers

Hi all.

I'm selling my Glenn Croft Quad II's with the intention of getting something made from scratch.

Very special amps these and total one-offs so do please read on. These are not your standard sounding Quad II's... These are fully modified in sound, very dynamic, fast as you would expect from Glenn.

All other valves are matched NOS (GEC, BRIMAR & MULLARD)
Pushing just over 20wpc and sounding amazingly good

TESTED ON RECENTLY CALIBRATED AVO 163 VALVE TESTER

PLATE/ANODE VOLTAGE =250V. SCREEN/GRID 2 =250V. NEG GRID VOLTAGE SET = -20 [MINUS 20]
VALVE 1 PLATE CURRENT = 73MA / 7.5MA/V
VALVE 2 PLATE CURRENT = 76MA / 8MA/V
BOTH VALVES HAVE BEEN TESTED AND CLEARED FOR INTERNAL SHORTS.
HEATER TO CATHODE INSULATION MEASURED AT LEAST 25 MEG OHM ON ALL 4 VALVES.

Hello Joe,

I am sad to hear you are taking apart with your wonderful Quad IIs and I am also very sad that I don't have the money to buy them from you.
Would you exchange them for a huge studio tape recorder (Mechlabor STM-610) :-) ?
May I ask what is the status of your Lancasters? I just opened a separate topic about mine as I want to replace the original internal wiring in it and I am a bit unsure what gauge to use. I'd like to use Cardas litz wire but does not know if I should use 21.5 or 17.5 AWG?
I also have my stands for them. They are not that elegant like yours. Mine are more robust.

If you have some time could you please summarize the modifications in your Quad II so maybe others could learn from it as well.
