Cable twisting

Can't remember where I read it, but someone said to imrpove performance of (most) cables, they twisted them; does anyone have any experience of this and has it made any tangible difference (good or otherwise) to their system?

Well, it can make them look a bloody sight tidier.

Ha ha, see I did it with my sub's dual cables and yes, that was the only effect I noticed. I might have twisted them a bit tight though and am concerned I might be damaging them (I was thinking if it did make a difference then more twists = more effect).

So I might undo it and loosen them up a little.

I'm not sure if twisting unbalance cables improves anything. You will need more wire for the same length of cable. I can understand it for balanced cables, as the wires have a better chance of receiving the same noise, and that should improve the cmrr a bit.

Common Mode Rejection Ratio. It's a measure of how well the input to ,lets say, an amp rejects the noise common to the hot and cold of a balanced signal.

Yeh, has no effect with single ended gear and is a function of the amplifier not the cable.
