Downloaded FLAC Bit Perfect?

Hi boys,
I've been downloading some FLAC files of late. Is there an easy way to tell if these are true bit perfect files?

MD5 check sum or otherwise known as hash check.


If on the other hand you mean are you getting the bit depth and frequency you've paid for then audacity will give you some idea but basically the answer is no, not very easily at any rate.

Of course, I'm tempted to write given how we are all audiophiles using thousands of pounds worth of replay equipment and can hear the difference between one mains fuse and another picking out a 16/44.1 track from a limited 24/96 should be a piece of cake.
But I wont write that because it upsets people.;)

The DATA is either correct or not, wot 'e said above. :cool:

If it was ripped by the likes of EAC, it may come with a file showing the results of the rip, which will say whether it was 100% accurate or not.

Thanks for your input boys. I've downloaded some FLACs that sound great and others that are not so good..... So I was wondering.

I wouldn't worry about the flac side of it. If it sounds crap, it was most probably a crap recording in the first place. You can't polish a turd etc.
