you can make two small racks using the music works tops, the shorter screw top bits fit an acrylic top shelf which i think i must have sold

So in summary

6 x normal selves
1 x isolation shelf (the spacers dont fit inside this one)
4 x 21.5cm leg things
20 x 14cm leg things
8 x 6cm legs
12 x spikey feet
24 x spacers
1 x set of larger top bolts
1 x set of shorter top bolts (used for using an acrylic top shelf)
music worxs acrylic jobbys (1 of which is a bit knackered but still usable)

I suppose the big question is what i wont for it ... ...
I dont have a clue what its worth?

Whats your feelings toward all that lot?

I think I paid £100 for the 21.5cm legs and an extra set of spikes from quadraspire ...
But I really don't want to rip anyone off if it's not worth this much s/h ...

I didn't mean what price will Ali pay for rack..I meant what will his missus want for letting him have it. Definitely worth £250, and this one has the advantage of being aesthetically very pleasing. Unlike the industrial ironwork of most.

That's a very good buy at that price, Hamish. There must be over a grand's worth there at full retail! Having used QS racks before, I can vouch for how effective they are :)

My advice for any potential buyer would be to split the lot into two smaller separate racks, because not only will this aid stability (as in its current form it will be rather wobbly), but allow you to separate the 'brains' and the 'brawn' components from each other (sources/preamps and PSUs/power amps), which will improve the sound.

Also, ensure that the small aluminium decoupling rings are placed between all the 'tall' support poles, otherwise the rack won't work as intended, sonically. Remember too, that the top shelf is designed to wobble (especially if the acrylic de-couplers are used, instead of the metal spiked ones), but once equipment is placed on the shelf, although it will wobble, there's no danger of anything falling off or collapsing. The shelves will also hold a remarkable amount of weight - no problem with valve amps, Ali!

The clear acrylic de-couplers actually produce a better sound, so for optimal performance, those should be used.

Anyway, good luck with the sale - whoever buys this is getting a bloody bargain! :cool:

Sorry mate, she won't wear the different colour, and I don't want to push the matter as she doesn't hassle me about the amount of kit in the living room, including a big pair of OB's and a massive pair of electrostatics, so I think it's only fair to compromise for the rack. Sorry to have wasted your time, it is indeed a bargain at that price.
