Bought James' (Jagdesign) 103 Pro - seems to have done very few miles, and it's in unmarked condition with the all the original bits'n'pieces.

Somewhat different delivery to the SAS M75 - not overly sure I've done the right thing at the moment, but will let the cartridge settle for a few days and see how we go. :)

Stu - I had a couple of 103's come and go with the Pioneer, and found the combination to be a very good one. Never really got on with a 103 in the Tecchy's std arm, compared to using it in the PL71's arm (into same phonostage/amp etc) it always sounded slightly lacklustre, strangled even and lacking the harder-hitting dynamics of the Pioneer. Not unpleasant though, and entirely listenable. I'm now using a different phonostage, but the 103Pro/1210 combination does bring back quite vivid memories - on certain types of music it sounds great (rock & old jazz records to name two) but on others...

...the SAS'd Shure is a cleaner, more expansive performer and just as dynamic, both musically and transient. The Denon is slightly leaner in the bass (no bad thing in my room) though and has lower surface noise - whatever's in the groove, that SAS tip will find it!

Will give this a few days though - see how things settle down. Presently running it in the Sumiko headshell with extra ballast and the 'copper wire' trick which consists of simply bending one piece of solid core copper wire into a 'u' shape, inserting between cartridge and headshell and tighten bolts gently.

My memory's useless sorry! Are you getting a PL71 sorted? If so, and were thinking about the SAS'd M75, it may not be a happy combination with the Pioneer arm as it needs low, or certainly low-ish mass. The PL71 arm is around 18g without headshell (the Technics is 12g with std shell) which is one reason why it loves 103's. :)

Yes will get it done sometime.
I have 2 shure 75 with new cheapo stylus and a g 800 and a mc 10 but i think it has a dodgy suspension.
Have to say i was shocked how good it sounded just with a bog standard m75.
