I've had some active Harbeth studio monitors for a couple of months now - best speakers I've had. Incredible detail, great imaging, and punchy as hell when needed.

I'm not an inveterate amp swapper so these suit me fine.

My first proper pair of loudspeakers were Meridian M2's followed by the M10's had those for years, what really astounded me about the Gens was how similar they sounded to my horns,tone timbre dynamics, there is no box coloration ,when you add active, digital filtering ,active room corrections a built in24/192 dac, they are really the only speakers most enthusiasts would ever need.
Neat too just a Mac/PC or Touch and the 8260A's

Glad you have an alternative to the obvious ones-that-shall-not-be-named on here (I can't be a*sed with the headaches I receive any more :donk:)..

There really is summat to be said for a well sorted streaming option into actives with DAC's on board (yeah, I know Meridian were doing ot donkey's years ago), but I do like pratting around with gear, including that with glowing glass bottles, so until I'm forced to "conform to the future of audio," I'll stay with me Croft, Crofted Quads, Crowns and Spendors/Rogers 5/9's.....

For a while after I got my Harbeth DPM1s I fed them directly with a Squeezebox and external DAC. Using the volume control on the SB was very effective, and a super-minimalist system. I would imagine you could feed the digital-in on the Genelecs in the same way . . .

Roob Hi, no you don't, At he moment I am using them with an M2Tech EVO , just to convert
USB to AES/SBU and attenuating with my Amarra software, or you could add an external dac with attenuator like the Weiss 202 and take the analogue into the speakers.
Or you can use them with the Genelec active room correction and use the Genelec software to attenuate.
They really are exceptionally good and incredibly versatileloudspeakers.
