Hi all!

I found this interesting forum and immidiately wanted to join, which is hereby done:)
My name is Jesper, coming from Denmark and my main interest is music, lots of music.
First preference for me has always been attending concerts with music played live.
However true HI-FI is a very good source as alternative, and I use my equipment heavily.
Mostly vinyl is played, but naturally also CD's as, for years, there was no real alternative, if you wanted to buy new releases..but for me vinyl is King.

My equipment:
Modified 1986 preamp Hafler DH-100
Modified 1986 poweramp Hafler DH-120
1979 Micro Seiki DQX-500 turntable
Rega RB300 arm
Ortofon MC20 Super MKII pick-up with matching step-trafo Ortofon T20MKII.
System Audio Mantra 30 speakers.
Headphones AKG K601 driven through Argon HA1 headphone amplifier.

The DQX-500 I've modified from being rather good to now VERY good...a precise warm sound was the goal and has succesfully been achieved.
I'm not at all a hysterical cable-freak, but good quality cables are used all way through the chain.

Well, minutes ago I finished listening to Neil Youngs "Tonight's the night" and
side A of American Fool by John Cougar Mellencamp - both trusty vinyls.
Yesterday evening (boycotting crappy television) I put on my AKG headphones and had a listen to the "Nebraska" side on the 5 LP box Bruce Springsteen live 1975-85.
Well actually I'm into every kind of music, classical, jazz, pop as long as it is inspiring.
First choice however would be rock...especially good live recordings, where my alltime favourite is a record by New York band The Del Lords called "howlin' at the halloween moon" lots of power in a fabulous vinyl recording. A very dry
and powerful studio rock album could - amongst many - be Lou Reed's New York or the Mellencamp album previously mentioned!

I reallly enthusiatically love my HIFI-gear but however this is only cathalysator for my real passion: the music!
I totally dislike people who intend to demonstrate how good their system is sounding by choosing a quality recording of crappy music...I rather prefer good quality music on crappy recordings...if you know what I mean!

What about you...which music is played at your home?

There are lots of Danish fans in the UK now after "Forbrydelsen" and now "Borgen" on BBC4. We all (well, some of us!) reckon we can speak Danish as well as Sofie Gråbøl after weeks and weeks of reading subtitles. :lol:

Hi from me too, Jesper. A great system you have there! One of my favourite artists is from your fair country - Tina Dickow (Dico as she is usually know here) - she doesn't seem to be that popular with "proper" music fans in her home country, though? Also discovered Agnes Obel and Oh Land and Trentemoller last year or two, love some of Lenny Ibizarre's chillout and of course a long-time fan of Whigfield! :eyebrows:

Well Danish television has made some very succesful series, and I'm glad that Denmark can now pay back for all that very good british stuff sent out on the danish channels.

Well I could mention hundreds more....long live that "Thames" intro from the BBC indicating something good to be broadcastet :-)
Not to forget british humour, which goes quite well in on the danes...there UK have supplied hours and hours of fun.
Of course I love Python, but one of my true favourites was the broadcast "Harry Enfield and chums"....especially the scouser-immitations...love it.
At the moment I'm laughing my pants off, watching Lee Mack standup on Youtube....magnificent.

Sorry, but you are quite wrong:lol:....Tina Dickow is huge in Denmark, managing to have a career both abroad, in english language as well as in Denmark in danish.
Watch this beautiful clip from autumn 2011, where she in fact does both.
Sings in english a song about Copenhagen and in danish paying hommage to one of the great danish singersongwriters of the 70'es, by singing a Dickow-version of one of these famous songs...while that composer is sitting in the crowd with tears in her eyes...moved by this sovereign performance....enjoy:

It's nice to see another fan of Hafler amplification on the forum, much underrated methinks. My DH220 has just had a few mods done to it by another of our members, Mark (Dingdong) and I'm "lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it..." :D

Talking of classic British comedy as you were, I loved some of the comedy of that period in the '70's. I'm a huge Python fan too and there is also is that other bastion of of comedy silliness The Goodies to consider. I'm not sure if they made it onto Danish TV, however many of their TV episodes are available on YouTube if you wish to sample their wares ;)

Hi Dave...yeahhh Haflers rule!
In my town Odense there was in the 80's a small HIFI-boutique having the agency for Hafler in Denmark.
They took the available kits and built them quite modified on customers request.
I ordered a Hafler-set where both pre and power amps got ring transformers as power supply.
On the pre-amp the additional AC power outlets on the back was omitted and an extra small box was made to fit the ring transformer. both units became better capacitors and quality-cabling. The power amp originally had an ambience-system, which I got omitted and all terminals on this unit was changed to quality in gold.
The sound coming from this set I have always considered to be mine, as those units were made unique for me :-)....and they still are magnificent!
Haflers are so durable and they can stand very hard abuse without
showing weakness.
The DH-220 you own is quite fantastic...in the days of considering the buy of my Hafler set, the DH-220 was not in stock....and it also was a lot more expensive for my wallet at the time....today I often consider it, but then again...the DH-120 is special to me!

Ah, no. :lol: My Dad's first car was a moggie, though not a yellow one, and some time ago when registering for something or another, Morris Minor came to mind. I often use car registration numbers for passwords. . . . :eyebrows:; for some reason I can remember all of our family cars' numbers from the Morris Minor in about 1964 onwards. Can't remember much else, though . .:scratch:
