View Full Version : Koetsu
For sale! Original, early 80s Koetsu Red / Rosewood .
It was re-tipped by Expert Stylus Co about 2 years ago but only a handful of hours on it since. In 09-06 it had suspension re-built by VdH personally (see the markings)!
It is in great condition with box and stylus guard and of course sounding superb!
Asking around £750 and will welcome offers too. Of course happy to ship.

Very nice & a good price too.
Not that it matters, because this is a superb cartridge but are you sure it's an original Koetsu, though? It doesn't look to me to have the 'long body' that one of those would have. Also, the originals didn't have the bulged cowling section immediately behind the cantilever and the rear section was slightly longer & had red & white coloured dots to indicate the connecting pins below.
I guess what I mean by original Koetsu is that it is one built by Sugano-San Senior in the 80's - not that it is of the very first Supex-lengthed production.
It was bought by it's original owner (I'm the second) back then along with an Oracle Delphi Mk1 and Fidelity Research FR64fx - that dates it to around 83/84 or so whereas the longbodied versions were about '79 or so (I think).
I'm having a cartridge crisis in trying to work out what to keep, but without having my system properly set up to figure it out.. I figure the Koetsu is less rare secondhand than my ART1 or Osawa MC80 (both NOS!) and easier to pick up again later so I can always go back.
Sale on hold....
Just been pointed out to me that it could well be a Red K Signature and it's length suggests that it is (I never asked the original owner, and he never mentioned it).
So on hold until I figure this out.
