Hey, found this forum and being an audioholic thought I would join; looking forward to using ‘The Art of Sound’ as a learning tool and a source of entertainment. Will most likely lurk around the ‘Analogue Art’, ‘The Drawing Board’ and Musical Composition’ threads the most.

Glad you've found us James - as an audioholic, you will certainly appreciate the fix you'll get from the forum, and there is very rarely a bar-room brawl, so you can sit back and chill out in safety! Have fun! :)

Hi Jim,
Here's a warm welcome to AoS from me too.
We usually ask folks to tell us a little about their system and taste in music for their Welcome section posts. I guess, strictly speaking you have done that, as we can tell you probably use a turntable, and make your own electronics and that you quite like music!

For God's sake man, spill the beans - we're dying to hear what gear you own!!!

Being computer savvy is not one of my strong suites but I’ll try uploading some pictures.6061

My system: A Grado Sonata is presently being used, my preferred Ortofon ‘Kontrapunkt a’ is in need of a cantilever repair. The arm is a Rega 300 with under slung counter weight and Incognito wires. The table is a DIY built by my talented audiophile brother in law. The table has a 2” thick Teflon platter, inverted bearing and adjustable arm tower. A Graham Slee phono stage is next, before an Audio Research LS-3 preamplifier. Next Kenwood L-07 mono block power amps that were a temporary purchase, but work so well they have stayed for over a year. The speakers are large Sansui’s that have been lined, braced and fitted with an Usher woofer, ViFi midrange and Usher tweeter.

The play list is mostly vintage rack, supplemented more and more with jazz. Have been tracking down LP’s in pristine condition to replace some of the pips and pops that have creped into the collection. My listening is mostly at night with my feet up and not paying attention to anything in particular, be it vocals, power cords etc.

Recently been trying to set my styli’s ‘SRA’ with the aid of a microscope, here is a picture, trying to get the diamond at 92 degrees. Guess this will kind of let you know how I enjoy tweaking.

Looking forward to learning more with you gents and gals.
