View Full Version : Today's Tenuously Topical Tracks
I "threatened" to start this yesterday, after posting a video for Renaissance and their topical track Northern Lights...
So, the idea is you post a track that is topical in some way - up to you whether you reveal what the link is, or leave it for others to guess...
Here's one to kick us off:

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - The Flame that Burns - Tonight is of course Burns night, as I'm sure all our Scottish members will be aware.
I did say tenuous... ;) Can anyone do any better, or have another topic to post on? (Or maybe this idea will crash and "Burn" :eyebrows:!)
I can't do it better today, but I like the record.

Oooooh-err, this feels vaguely familiar!
A thread that has the potential to go on forever, & which starts with a YouTube clip of an Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan track.
This is also incredibly spooky Alex, because I couldn't get to sleep last night & at gone 2 AM, I was thinking about how I could round off the Degrees of Separation thread to a nice neat conclusion.

I thought Alex had already done so - finishing with a track by ZZ Top!
Thanks Jostein! We shall see if this thread has wings!

I wanted to bring it back full circle (again) by returning to Campbell & Lanegan, but I fell asleep!

Indeed! I was torn between DoS having more lives than a cat - and something which may require a little less grey matter - Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan is however a complete coincidence, albeit I may have been subconsciously aware!

Well I'm enjoying myself... :) My "unwritten rule" is that I have to post "decent" music... IMO! - So that pretty much opens it up to everything, given my "Britney moment" - but you know what I mean...
I'm sure this one won't take a moment to work out...

Can't find a You Tube version, so Spotify will have to do: Coolio - Knight Fall (http://open.spotify.com/track/0okBGb6K9SR6kwjnyyEzcA) ;)
Well if nothing else, I'm building myself an interesting playlist of some of my favourite tunes!!!
(Maybe I should rename the thread "Today's Tedious Topical Track!" ;))

To be fair, "snowbound" was perhaps over-egging the pudding somewhat, but any excuse for a good track - as that Helen Trevillion one is. :)
I'll join you :)

Point taken... (But you can Eat a Renault Four with salami in your ears and then stick a deck chair up your nose Barry. :ner: )
;)
All together now - a one, two, three:
"Its the time of year
Now that Spring is in the air
When those two wet gits with their girly curly hair
Make another song for moronic holidays
That nauseate-ate-ate
In a million different ways
From the shores of Spain
To the coast of Southern France
No matter where you hide
You just can't escape this dance
Hold a chicken in the air
Stick a deckchair up your nose
Buy a jumbo jet
And then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green
Then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet
And pretend your name is Keith
Skin yourself alive
Learn to speak Arapahoe
Climb inside a dog
And behead an eskimo
Eat a Renault Four with salami in your ears
Casserole your gran
Disembowel yourself with spears
The disco is vibrating
The sound is loud and grating
Its truly nauseating
Let's do the dance again
Hold a chicken in the air
Stick a deckchair up your nose
Yes you'll hear this song in the holiday discos
And there's no escape in the clubs or in the bars
You would hear this song if you holidayed in Mars
Skin yourself alive
Learn to speak Arapahoe
Climb inside a dog
And behead an eskimo
Now you've heard it once
Your brain will spring a leak
And though you hate this song
You'll be humming it for weeks
Hold a chicken in the air
Stick a deckchair up your nose
Buy a jumbo jet
And then bury all your clothes
La la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la la laaaaaaa"
