View Full Version : Denon Modified 103r by Dom
I recently had my cartridge upgraded by Dom for the price of £250 this has completely transformed the performance of the deck, to where I expect it to be.
Dom did the following work
A new Boron Cantilever and stylus with a aluminum body

It now sounds very similar to a London Decca Jubilee at 1/4th the total price (including cost of cart) this is well worth the effort
Dom service is very good. He leant me a spare cart so I would not be without music. He also communicated well, even when there was a delay he let me know quickly
Highly recommended
Thanks
Do you really rate it that close to the Decca Jubilee? That would make it a very interesting proposition...
Its not quite there but its pretty closeIt does not have the same aliveness as the Decca but I am getting the attack I am used to with Jubille
Presumably you mean a boron, not Baron, cantilever?
Nice one, John. I'd love to hear it. Are you bringing the 103 to Scalford? :)
Dom is defo the man for such jobs, these days. Feck the slow-as-snail's-shite crew at Expert! :exactly:
Marco.
P.S Love how you've captured the stray 'bawhairs' lying on the carpet. It gives your abode a distinctly Bohemian feel! :D
Ooh very nice! Think I've just seen my next project as just got hold of a 103R ripe for re-tipping :)
Richard - I was thinking the very same thing :)

Thank you guys and John for the kind comments, but again I have to keep repeating myself. Firstly John, I was the one who sent the cart to you to use whilst yours was having the upgrade and secondly I do all the communicating  Only Joking lololololol. Seriously though, it is nice to read good positive feedback. We both really appreciate the comments. Dom will leave a response later.
Thanks Again
Natalie ;);)
Bouncy floors are no good for the Terminator arm so will not be bringing the Salvation to Scalford

Cheers Natalie;)

I meant just the re-tipped 103... So what T/T is being used in your system at Scalford, dude? :)
Marco.

Great minds... :D
Think Martin may bring his along as he never exhibted before
I bring the cart with me
Ah, no worries. You see, you not bringing the Salvation to Scalford was a new one on me! ;)
If Martin brings his Sumiko headshell as spare, we can fit the 103 onto that - should be interesting.
I'll also bring my T/T for a bit of fun
Marco.

Ahh think not able to use the Denon then as it has a glued Aluminum body now
We can still fit that onto a headshell, dude, the same as you do to the one on the Terminator :)
Marco.
Nice one, mate. Bring the screws you use, too, to fix it to the Terminator headshell, in case I don't have any of the right size.
I'm presuming that fairly short ones are used, which go into threaded slots on the top of the cartridge?
Marco.
Sure are and shall bring them along with me too
