Crossfeed

That term has been used a few times in various topics. Whilst it is mainly associated with analogue headphone amps, there are a few bits of software available that can mimic the principle on a PC. The first one that I can point to is Head Fit (http://www.ohl.to/about-audio/audio-softwares/head-fit), and from the same software writer, Crossfeed + EQ (http://www.ohl.to/about-audio/audio-softwares/crossfeed-and-eq)
Give it a try if you want to know more what crossfeed is all about, but don't have a headphone amp with that facility.

There's a lot on Rock Grotto about the Meier Crossfeed. I bought a PCB as part of a group buy on there and never used it. It is tiny and just needs a few resistors added to it.

There are a few crossfeed plug-ins available for foobar2000. The effects are interesting.
