I am Hans Scholte from Wassenaar, Holland.
Personal data: retired from IT, married, two children, four grandchildren.

I built my first amp, 6 watt mono, in 1959.
I used more home built amps, then a Fisher, a Luxman and for the last 20 odd years a Technics SU-VX700. Of course nothing compared to all the impressive stuff on this forum, but I was happy with it.
Now I am looking for another amp because the Technics has the usual problem, corrosion of the input switch, and seems beyond repair.
I hope to find a good successor with your help.

Although I have a long standing interest in sound reproduction, my first priority is music, restricted to what is commonly called classical music.

The name Melomaan derived is from a French radio program of the sixties, l'Heure des Melomanes

@jazzpiano: I certainly enjoy retirement, but never have I been as busy before, just too many time consuming hobbies.

I have the impression that classical music specialists are a minority on audio forums.

There are hardly favourite composers for me. Just now I am in an English phase, more Finzi, Britten and Bridge than usual.
My collection spreads from some early music, like Ecole de Notre Dame, to Tavener's Akhmatova songs of 1980.

Listening over speakers I prefer lieder and chamber music. In the limited space of my room big orchestral pieces don't sound realistic. For that I prefer the headphone, a HD-650.

@Alex UK: For a poor pensioner there is not much to spend. This weekend I will check out a Leema Pulse III. If it has to go back I will start a thread.

@Reid Malenfant: I doubt if there are many solutions that tick all the boxes within budgetary and other constraints. But there is still hope.
