I need a new stereo for the dining room. I have some nice Rogers LS1 speakers I can use with it and I was thinking maybe something like a Denon M30 or Teac jobbie (think I have the model right). It must be cheap, s/h, and as good quality as you can get for the money!

Not interested on RDS etc but DAB might be a bonus.

Forgot to mention, I need a CD / Tuner.

Any recommendations chaps?

Thanks! :)

A friend has had several Denon all in one units along with B&W ceiling speakers for some years. They have been very good and I was quite impressed with the sound quality.

Hi Alex. the Denon was one to consider certainly. I have also seen a NAD, a TEAC, and one or two others from the likes of Sony and Panasonic.

I would recommend the Denon unit Steve - my mate is currently using one to feed some PMC active monitors and it sounds far better than it should!

If you can find a Sony CMT-SE1 (They do come up on eBay) I highly recommend it.

Fantastic liitle system that looks stylish, feels very well made & sounds better than equivalent Denons IMO. They use Sonys' "S-Master" amplifier technology which is just another type of switching amp like Tripath etc...

The arcam solo I heard was mighty impressive.

Thanks guys, I was hoping to pick up something cheap as it is only for background music - I will keep checking ebay!

Hi steve, as long as you don't mind getting a separate cd/tuner this would be a damn fine amp, p.m sent

We bought my Dad one of these for his 80th:

It sounds much better than I was expecting, really rather good, has CD, DAB, FM, iPod dock, USB, proper tone controls as well as pure direct, full remote control, looks good, only £269.99 from Superfi.

We have a lightly used Denon M35DAB available for £85. It has cd, am/fm tuner, DAB tuner and amp all built in to a tiny unit of about 210mm wide. We also have an Aiwa micro system a bit like the one someone else posted a photo of. Ours is only the pre / power and tuner though - ie no cassette or CD. You can see them both here: http://www.greenhomeshop.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4&zenid=354156dcdf175e1b0b585039f2a2c358

Just at the end of last year we did a bit of buying on ebay. The idea was to buy a half decent Hi-Fi for the office and I bet we could do it for less than fifty quid. Not including P&P.
For £35 odd we bought: A pair of decent Tannoy speakers, a Cambridge Audio combined pre-power amp, a Technics 24 bit something or other CD player (forget the model, won loads of awards), an Aiwa tuner (99p) and a Technics parallel tracking deck. I was tepmpted to go the whole hog and get a graphic equaliser! We ended up with enough cable and interconnects that we have some left over. Just shows, some real bargains to be had out there and some good kit unnoticed.

Don't fancy a trip to Melton Mowbray on the 4th March do you Graham? :)

I see there is one of these on ebay now, but it is pick up only and the seller has no feedback. Meh.

If anyone knows one of these going anywhere please let me know! thanks.
