PS3 as music server

Is anyone else using a PS3 as a Sqeezebox. I ask because I downloaded the Logitech software and to my shock the PS3 recognises it wirelessly. But I also have window 7 and the media player can also be used as the PS3 also recognises this.
This is my first foray into this arena and wanted some opinions on best file types and if anyone else has had good results using a PS3.

File types - use EAC or dBPoweramp to rip to FLAC. Set either one up to rip securely.
As for running LMS on a PS3 I can't answer - if it does it then fine. I run mine on a Win7 PC.

I was using jamcast to throw files and stream spotify from my laptop to the ps3 with good results. Annoyingly the ps3 doesnt do tracklistings or album art, even with cd rips and so i put the idea on the burner.
Then someone told me about ps3 media server app which is free and is meant to be a good tool. Didnt try it because of broadband connection problems that wont be sorted until next month but i do intend to explore it further.
Disappointed sonys new tablets dont sync with the ps3 despite having remote function with their blue ray players.

Squeezebox server has always been capable of reading iTunes media libraries.
I've never had to do it personally, but then I never used iTunes to start with.

On the ripping front - seriously look at something other than iTunes.
EAC and dbPoweramp are the most widely recommended over on the Slim Devices forum (Slim Devices being the company that conceived of Squeezebox. Logitech bought the company 5 or 6 years ago).
