SHM single layer SACDs

Anybody any experience of SHM SACDs? They are quite expensive ($59.99) but is the sound worth the cost? Have seen them on Acoustic Sounds.

Unless you're thinking of spending some hefty wonga on a decent SACD player I wouldn't bother looking at them if I were you :)

I am using my Denon 2900, which is several years old now and I've just brought in down from the loft. Still sounds very good. :)

Ignore the technical claims for them. They are simply remastered source material and that is why they sound different. There's no difference to be had from greater optical clarity on the disc substrate. Many of them are great remasters though, and worth it for that alone.

Thanks. I understand your point of remastering. I have Genesis' Foxtrot SACD and it sounds really good compared to the redbook CD.

You're comparing apples with oranges.
The Genesis stuff on SACD has all been remixed.

Remixed and remastered. Yes I know they have, I've got them all. The point is (Foxtrot) sounds better as an SACD mix. IMO.

would agree there but loads of folk hated all the remixed/remastered sacd's. Personally I believe they are the best reissues out there.
