The Belkin F9G623UK3M surge protector is back on sale in Ebay at £23.99. This is a steal IMO.

They had 2, but after posting that heads-up I decided to buy one myself for my PC/Router/TV/Freestat - so that left one and, as you say, that went soon after.

Mine arrived this morning, but I'll not get a chance to try it until Thursday at the earliest.

I have found they do make an audible difference, only downside, as with anything that brings an improvement is that you get used to it pretty soon after hearing it (the improvement that is) And then you start to wonder where your next fix is gonna come from!

Got the Belkin set up and the red line fault indicator is flashing on and off. That's a good thing, right?

No. In the user manual it states (this is verbatim):

Protection (Yellow) Indicates your surge protection is functioning properly.

Line OK (Green) Indicates line integrity

Line Fault (Red) Indicates wall outlet in use has existing ground fault, or is improperly wired.

Line Fault (Red): If on indicates that a wiring fault has been detected. This may be the result of a lack of grounding or reversed phases, among other problems. A qualified electrician should be notified so that the problem can be corrected before plugging in devices.

Hope this helps you.

Electricity is dangerous so be very careful when working with it.

I have a user manual but it does not make it clear if the red light flashing on and off is indicating a fault or if the red light needs to be solid - i.e on and not blinking to indicate a fault.

But if there is a fault what could it possibly be?

The ones I am using only show the green and yellow as being lit, which would indicate everthing ok.

A flashing red light would seem to indicate there is a fault somewhere. It could be that the polarity in your mains socket is reversed.

I am not an expert, but it could be worth checking this out. If you do, remember to turn off the mains supply at the consumer box.

In normal use the red light should be off.

Thanks for that John - no way I will be pissing about with it myself. Had a new meter put in a couple of years ago I suspect it may have something to do with that. I'll have to contact the 'leccy'
