I'm planning to send my Micro 25 pre to GC for the full 'R' spec. upgrade next month as opposed to half the job as mentioned a while back. This is a blind move though I do have great faith in this gear and feel comfortable doing so. Plus I've alluded to buying blind before here, all respect to dealers but I prefer to sit with something in my room/system for a good while and it would be wrong of me to ask a dealer for this service if I'm not buying from them.

So, any AoS's here have a view on what the difference and improvements will be ? Detail and soundstage are important to me, but I do a lot of 'casual' listening (not centre speakers, edge of sofa off centre with beer !).

In a nutshell I've found my ideal speakers (little Harbs.), am looking for a final pre and then plan to muck about with power amps for the rest of my life ;-)

Cheers, Ian.

Ian you will not be disappointed with that upgrade regulated power supply ... you are buying in to quality as you know;)

I thought the "R" upgrade was a completely different preamp, since there are more valves inside from memory :)

Whatever Glenn does for you, ALL his modern designs basically sort-of sound the same. What changes as you go up the ladder is that the sound becomes more expansive and, well, bigger, I think :) Just forget all the syrupy descriptions and reams and reams of bullsh*t that so many journo's write I PROMISE you, the thing won't come back sounding totally unrecognisable from where it's at now. It'll just be, well, bigger :)
